ENE 483: Week 12 November 19, 2023

Happy Sunday!

I hope you have all had a chance to enjoy the sunshine this weekend!

You should have all received the graded rubrics for MiniDesign1. If you have questions, please let me know.

This week we will look at distribution systems and corrosion control. I will lecture on Wednesday via Zoom (synchronously) and will record and post the lecture for those of you who are traveling. There will be no participation question this week.

There will be no lecture on Tuesday during tutorial. Please use the time to work on MiniDesign2 or Tutorial3 (water treatment plant). If you wish to sign up to use the lab, please do so here.  You may sign up for a morning session (during tutorial) or in the afternoon between 1:30 and 3:30 PM since we do not have ENE 480 lab this week.  I will plan on splitting my time between the classroom (EB 2400) and the ENE lab (EB 3578).

MiniDesign2 is due this Wednesday, along with the adsorption homework. If you need the grace period through the break let me know.

I've had several questions regarding the economics portion of MiniDesign2. Since we don't have  O&M indices for 2023, just focus on calculating the capital cost for the processes. Don't worry about O&M costs.

As mentioned in class, you may wish to do the experimental part of Tutorial4 (home plumbing systems) while at home over break since the data needs to be collected in a single family home (or duplex or townhouse with separate metering). If you have questions, please let me know.

See you in class tomorrow.

Dr. Masten
