Greetings and Happy Sunday!
I hope you all had a good weekend.
This week we will start the unit on granular media filtration.
On Tuesday, we have guest speakers from Black & Veatch, EGLE, and the City of Williamston. All four guests are graduates of our civil and environmental engineering programs. Please make sure to attend out of respect for our guests.
I have moved the due date for Mini-Design 1 from October 20 to the 27th. However, there will be no extensions beyond the 48 hour grace period, so please plan accordingly.
I have not moved the sedimentation homework (which is open) from October 27th. I will open the filtration homework tomorrow.
Today (October 15th) is the last day to turn in the Scavenger hunt report. I hope you enjoyed working on it.
As I mentioned, I walked the Detroit International Half Marathon today. I've included some photos for you.

Yes, I wore my mask in the corral as it was pretty crowded

We're off... no we're waiting... too more than a half hour to get to the start

In the distance you can see the two spans of the new cable-stayed bridge (photo taken for the CEs in the class)

Masks back on in the tunnel. No, I didn't have my CO2 monitor with me.

Yes, I was very happy to finish it. It was actually 13.5 miles (not 13.1) and we did it in 3:05:48, 13:45 min mile pace, and that was walking the entire thing except in the chute at the end. If I move slowly on Monday, you'll know why.
